On August 27, 2024, Tatarstan Petrochemical Forum hosted the first foresight session “Competencies of the Specialist of the Future”, organized by the Russian National Committee of the World Petroleum Council in cooperation with ANO Kazan Expo.

The session was attended by students of universities of the Republic of Tatarstan (Kazan Federal University, Kazan National Research Technological University, Almetyevsk State Technological University "Higher School of Petroleum") and winners of the competition for the scholarship "Golden Heritage of the World Petroleum Council", who represented 7 universities from different parts of Russia.
Seven teams worked on the task of developing a competence strategy for oil and gas company that would allow it to successfully adapt to global changes related to the world trends in the field of new technologies.
The participants had to propose a strategic vision and develop a set of measures that would help the company to modernize its business processes, increase competitiveness and improve interaction with customers in the changing innovation environment. The tasks for the teams were prepared by the organizers together with experts of PJSC Tatneft named after V.D. Shashin.

The obtained results were evaluated by an authoritative jury consisting of:

- Kirill Valentinovich Molodtsov - Chairman of the Editorial Board of the national industry magazine "Oil and Gas Vertical", Member of the Public Council under the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation;
- Valery Afonasyevich Yazev - Chairman of the Association "RNC WPC".

The moderator of the foresight session was Anastasia Mikhailovna Pushina, junior researcher of the Marine Oil and Gas Field Facilities Department of the Corporate Scientific and Technical Center for Marine Field Development of Gazprom VNIIGAZ LLC.

After the presentation of team solutions for students, a special guest of the event, Kirill Valentinovich Molodtsov, gave a speech, shared industry development trends and answered questions from young professionals.

As a result of the foresight session, students and experts jointly developed a set of competencies necessary for the successful professional activity of a modern specialist in the petrochemical industry. These competencies cover both technical aspects and key skills, including innovative approaches and knowledge of advanced technologies, which creates a solid foundation for the training of qualified specialists of the new age.

In addition to memorable gifts, the participants of the winning teams were invited to the event "Mineral Resources as the Basis of National Sovereignty - Human Resources and Innovative Environment" which will be held at the St. Petersburg Mining University of Empress Catherine the Great on the eve of the XVI BRICS Summit.
