Tatarstan Petrochemical Forum – 2026 Discusses Technologies and New Approaches to Power Supply in the Oil and Gas Industry
On 26 August, as part of the Tatarstan Petrochemical Forum — 2026 and the Kazan Oil, Gas & Chemistry International Petrochemical Exhibition, a panel discussion titled "Power Generation for the Oil and Gas Industry: AI and Digitalization, Technological Sovereignty, Hybrid Solutions and Promising Projects" was held.
The session was organized by the Committee on Energy Strategy and Development of the Fuel and Energy Complex of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, the "EnergoInnovation" Association of Innovative Enterprises in the Energy Sector, and ANO Kazan Expo. The discussion was moderated by Mikhail Smirnov, President of the EnergoInnovation Association.
The discussion featured representatives of government authorities, trade associations, and industrial and technology companies:
Ekaterina Zholudeva, Director of the National Research Institute for Resource Saving and Energy Efficiency;
Nikolai Isakov, Executive Director of the Union of Oil and Gas Industry Organizations "Russian Gas Society";
Sergey Mayorov, Chairman of the Board of the Association of Russian Industrial and Business Clusters;
Marat Minibaev, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Tatarstan;
Kirill Molodtsov, Member of the Public Council under the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation;
Anna Fedoseeva, Product Development Director at Simpl Group.
Discussions focused on issues directly related to the technological resilience and efficiency of the oil and gas industry: the development of domestic solutions, industrial cooperation, digital transformation, the application of artificial intelligence, the improvement of EPC projects, and the creation of mobile and hybrid power units for operation in challenging conditions.
Cooperation as a tool for technological development emerged as one of the key areas. Sergey Mayorov, Chairman of the Board of the Association of Russian Industrial and Business Clusters, presented approaches to forming interaction chains between Russian enterprises and companies from friendly nations. Practical objectives included identifying domestic contractors and technological solutions, helping manufacturers enter new markets, and expanding access to financing mechanisms.
Special attention was paid to improving the efficiency of major infrastructure projects. Evgeny Matveev, General Director of "Cryogenmash" JSC, discussed methods reducing engineering and installation timelines in "brownfield" and "greenfield" projects, driven by technical retrofitting and factory prefabrication of modular structures.
Digital transformation became another central topic of the discussion. Anna Fedoseeva, Product Development Director at Simpl Group, outlined the role of domestic software and artificial intelligence in building a unified digital environment for fuel and energy complex enterprises. According to her, the effectiveness of digitalization largely depends on close interaction between customers and developers, as well as a shift from isolated digital solutions toward the comprehensive transformation of production processes.
Alexey Kalmynin, Director of the Chelyabinsk Electrical Equipment Plant, introduced a practical example of a new approach to power supply. He described the Energoflot mobile power unit — a gas engine generator combined with an energy storage system on a single mobile platform. The solution is tailored for facilities requiring autonomous or rapidly deployable power supply, including shift camps, construction sites, agricultural enterprises, and containerized data centers.
During the discussion, participants explored the need for closer interaction between enterprises across different regions and the integration of scientific developments into real production operations. Particular focus was placed on creating conditions that would accelerate the transition of promising technological solutions from development to deployment.
Following the meeting, the participants formulated proposals to enhance interregional cooperation and support measures for promising initiatives. The overall conclusion was that the long-term technological resilience and competitiveness of the oil and gas industry require leveraging the combined capabilities of business, government, science, and the engineering community.
