The petrochemical complex is the key industrial sector of the Republic of Tatarstan, which forms about 60% of the Republic's shipped goods.

The petrochemical complex includes the following industries:

In 2023, 35.2 million tons of oil were produced in the Republic of Tatarstan, with small oil companies accounting for over 7 million tons.

The share of oil refining, rubber and plastic products manufacturing sectors in Tatarstan's petrochemical complex is growing. By the end of 2023, the volume of oil refining increased by 1 million tons compared to last year and amounted to 24 million tons. The Republic produces about a third of the Russian polyethylene, more than 40% of synthetic rubber and more than half of truck tyres from the total number of products in the country.

The coordination and expert center determining the strategy for the petrochemical complex development of the Republic of Tatarstan is JSC Tatneftekhiminvest-holding. It’s main functions include the formation of investment, innovation, environmental and social policy of the petrochemical complex, as well as the representation of the sector at the Russian and international levels.
